Pause Before You Send

You send an e-mail message and before you know it the receiver is sending back a message full of hostility.

This was not your intention. A co-worker sends an email to the entire department and soon your inbox (and theirs) is full of questions, comments and misunderstandings from the team.

What would we do without electronic communication? It does create efficiency and allows us to interact with friends, family and coworkers at breakneck speed. However, e-mails and texts can be easily misinterpreted. It is absolutely essential to effective electronic communication that we pause to consider our audience, messaging, state of mind and message length. There are times when the "old-school" face-to-face communication is our best resource for success!
